Our Trip to Orlando, Florida.
As some of you know, me and my son ( 8-year-old ) headed to Orlando, Florida from 7. Mai to 12. Mai. I left my four-year old at home with his father, i will make it up to him when he is a little bit older and can enjoy the parks more.
I wanted to take my oldest to see Disney World, also wanted to go my self since i’ve never been. It was only few days but we enjoyed the trip to the fullest.
The flight took 7 and a half hours, we landed around midnight in Orlando.
So we went straight to the hotel and went to sleep.
The hotel we stayed in was the Holiday inn and suites. We bought a package deal with flight and hotel so we didn’t choose where we stayed but it was good enough for us ( we are not that picky, if there is a bed and a clean room we are set ). The hotel was in a good driving distance from the parks we wanted to visit and had a little pool, and a shop to buy drinks or snacks. The room was big, with air conditioning, two queen size beds, Tv & internet. I could also get coffee (coffee is a must), use the microwave and we had a refrigerator.
We didn’t rent a car for our stay but as i have done before, i used a Uber to get around, it’s a lot cheaper than getting a taxi and easy to use. You can get a Uber application on your phone and then you can find nearby cars who are available and you can usually choose between three prices.
Day 1 – Pool, shopping and relax.
We didn’t plan anything for the first day, after we woke up we watched a little tv and then went out to the pool for few hours. We got good weather so it was great to relax little bit before we went shopping. After shopping food and few clothes we went back to the hotel and again in the pool until we went to our room to eat and sleep. The next day was planned, and we were going to Magical Kingdom.
Day 2 – Disney World, Magic Kingdom.
Disney World was founded 1965 in Bay Lake, Florida, the Walt Disney World covers approximately 47 square miles and features four theme parks. The resort is home to Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, And Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. It also has two amazing water parks; the Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and the Disney’s Blizzard. Additionally, there are over 20 resort hotel in this world-class resort.
When you and if you visit Disney World, expect to be wowed with great animal adventures, dining, shared rides, shopping, magical attractions, and also enjoy performances by over 60,000 cast members. If you want to have the time of your life then consider visiting the Disney World, Orlando and you will never want to leave the place.
Magical Kingdom, Disney.
There is a reason why it is known as “the place where dreams come true”. Magical Kingdom Park is the home to some of the most iconic characters in Walt Disney as a brand. They include Mickey Mouse, Mini Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy. These characters are loved and watched by kids all over the world. It is essential to point out that Magic Kingdom is the most visited park in the entire world.
The park opens at 9:00 am so I got a uber at 8:30 am, the drive took about 30 minutes. and getting in the park took us almost two hours. We first went through a bag search, then getting our wrist bands, from there getting a ferry over to Magical Kingdom and finally we were there and the time was almost 11 am. So i would recommend that you get there early if you want to enter at 9 am.
There are six magical lands to discover in the kingdom; the Fantasy land, Adventure land, Liberty square, and Main street USA, and the futuristic Tomorrow land. I would say it’s the best place to visit with your kids. You will be amazed by the musical parades and fireworks displays. Visit the Haunted Kingdom, the Pirates of the Caribbean, It’s a small world, and the Carousel of Progress which are all classics there. The festival of the Lion King is a Broadway show that celebrates Simba the lion cub that later becomes a king. It is a very delightful pageantry and puppetry festival to be a part of. You can also sample Disney-world themed shops and boutiques there. There are several cafes and restaurants around the park where you can eat and enjoy your favorite drinks. It’s a smart move to make reservations for the evening.
My son and me will definitely never forget this park and we stayed until it closed and still we didn’t have time to see everything or try every ride but we did plenty. We arrived to the hotel at midnight and went straight to bed.
Tips – Get there early, have fast pass for three attractions, get reservations at a restaurant for the evening and have a magical time ❤
Day 3 – Typhoon Lagoon, Disney water park.
Day three we planned to go to the typhoon lagoon park, Disney has two water parks but we only had time to visit one this time. Typhoon lagoon is a popular tourist attraction featuring towering palm trees and a great island feel. It is a water park that stands in 56 acres with twisting tides, great waterways, relaxing rivers and roaring rapids. This park also has an area where visitors can enjoy snorkeling among live sharks and various tropical fish.
What makes this park just amazing is the fact that the water is heated to 75 degrees all year-round. This means that you can enjoy water sports whether it is winter season or summer season. The attractions include the Castaway Creek, which is a 2100-foot river raft ride that lets visitors board inner tubes and meander through caves, open grottos, waterworks, forests, and waterfalls. The Gangplank Falls is yet another attraction there. It is a big 300-foot raft ride that includes large inner tubes that hold visitors as they go down rapids and other water effects as well as rock formations.
The Humunga Kowabunga allows you to travel at speeds of up to 30mph through triple enclosed slides through caves. Mayday Falls, Ketchakiddee Creek, Miss Adventure Falls, Crush n Gusher, Storm Slides, Wave pool are some of the water-themed attractions there. The Activities there are for all family members. However, kids are supposed to be accompanied by adults when trying out these activities.
We had a lovely relaxing day there, and we both burned a little bit, so remember to protect your selves from the sun. The park closes at 5 pm so that left us with some time to spend shopping at the Florida mall ( lucky me ).
Tips – Protect your selves from the sun, Swimsuits and a good mood.
Day 4 – Epcot & Hollywood Studios.
The Epcot center is where the Epcot International Flower and Garden is held. It is a yearly festival with exhibition that include fun activities for the whole family and amazing displays. It is a garden theme park that is divided into two areas; the Future World and the World Showcase. The Future World consists of eight pavilions that showcase innovates aspects that include science and theology applications. The World Showcase is basically a large area that portrays different countries in the world. It has eleven pavilions and each pavilion has represents a particular country.
These countries are the U.S.A, Morocco, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, France, China, Italy, Norway, Germany and Mexico. It is important to point out that each pavilion has themed landscape, attractions, restaurants, streets capes, and architecture that represents each country’s cuisine and culture. You can sample and enjoy the different cuisines from these countries. It is an amazing place if you want to experience the different cultures. It is a great place for taking pictures of yourself in the different pavilions. The Soarin’ at the Epcot is one of the best thing ever. You can ride around the world and feel the magic of the flight in a single simulator ride.
We left from Epcot around 3 pm and took a bus straight to Hollywood Studios.
If you are thinking about visiting the Walt Disney World in Florida, then you must consider visiting the Hollywood Studios. There are a lot of things to see and do there. For example, The Top story mania, which is a 3D screen based shooter game with toy story characters. It is an exiting and very intense game that any family member can enjoy.
The Beauty and the Beast is a Broadway-style setup that retells the story of the Beauty and the Beast in condensed form. Disney Junior is yet another attraction there that depicts the Disney Junior characters live on stage. Kids will love watching their characters performing live on stage.
The Fantasmic is another great attraction there. It features a nighttime spectacular whereby you enter Mickey Mouse’s Dreams in a show. The show involves projections and characters on stage, fire, boats, and fireworks. It is something that will literally blow your mind off. There are other inventions and shows that are to be launched in the Hollywood Studios, for example, the Star Wars Galaxy Edge, Toy Story Land and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad. You can also meet and interact with Disney characters there.
Day 5 – Sea World & Flight home.
Since our flight wasn’t until 7 pm, we had time to kill so we went to Sea World.
Sea World is a marine themed park featuring live marine animals and activities. There are numerous marine attractions, tours, rides and all above shows for the adventure seekers and animals lovers. The park has three parks; Aquatic, Discovery Cove, and the Sea World. There is the Antarctica that offers the actual experience of the South Pole including the ice, penguins and you can enjoy all these in the eye of a penguin called Puck as you enjoy your icy ride.
You can also touch the penguins and even swim with the white Beluga whales. If you are not fascinated by all these things and animals then a ride on the Kraken, the Monster roller coaster will give you an adrenaline rush, but those rides are not for the smaller children. This is not something for the faint-hearted because it rises above the horizon and is floor less. If you love marine and what it has to offer, this is a place to visit.
We had to take a uber back to our hotel around 3 pm to get our bags and go to the airport, we nearly missed our flight but we were the last people to board. But we made it and we are back in Iceland. We are definitely going to Orlando again to check out more parks and to get some much-needed sun.
Orlando, Florida is the home of some of the best theme parks in the world. It is, in fact, one of the places that are frequented by thousands of tourist yearly. There are several theme parks, places to visit and a lot of things to do in Orlando FL. There are interesting museums, great waterfront attractions, local restaurants and eating joints and so much more.
Apart from the above parks, Disney World has other attractions, for example, The Animal Kingdom, the Cinderella Castle, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, the Tree of Life, The wild Africa Trek, the Toy Story Midway mania, the Kennedy Space Center, the Discovery Cove and many more.
